Business First: Donatos founder to give $1M for redevelopment on south side

The founder of Donatos Pizzeria is donating $1 million to help a $3.2 million city plan to revive the South Parsons Corridor on the city's south side, Columbus Business First reports.

The contribution from Jim Grote and his family was announced during Mayor Michael Coleman's annual State of the City address on Wednesday evening at the Ohio Theatre, the newspaper reports. Coleman is trying to combat blight that has seen 20 percent of houses sit vacant and a poverty rate that has stretched to nearly 30 percent in that area, the newspaper reports.

Several other businesses also are contributing to the plan, which calls for fixing up houses, building an early childhood care center and launching a work-force development training program in the area, the newspaper reports.
