Special Meeting to Discuss Proposed Pizzuti Project - August 19th @ 7pm

Join members of the Short North Civic Association, Short North Business Association, Italian Village Society and others Thursday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Goodale Park Shelter House. The development is primarily situated on land currently occupied by two surface parking lots along High Street between Russell Street and Poplar Avenue and former UCT site ...and building. Several joint meetings have been and will continue to be held between the Victorian Village and Italian Village Architectural Review Commissions and Pizzzuti Development to review the concept of the project, and now it's time to get the communities involved.

This project is a major development for the Short North that will bring a one-of-a-kind hotel, much-needed parking, a fabulous art collection, and over 40,000 square feet of office and retail space into our neighborhood. Yet there are a variety of issues that must be worked out before the project can be given the go-ahead. The issues include traffic flow, building mass, and exterior design, among others. In addition, a portion of the historic United Commercial Travelers (UCT) building will need to be demolished to make room for the parking garage required to accommodate on-site parking. The rest of the UCT Building will be preserved and will house a portion of the Pizzuti family art collection, which may be open to display to the public as a cultural asset to the neighborhood.

Joel Pizzuti will be presenting the develpment concept to all the neighborhood societies, associations, foundations, residents, and business owners. Please plan to attend to hear the latest information on the project and to get your questions answered and your concerns addressed.
